想到英國「打工度假」的第一個英語力考驗，大概就是這個了！
如果能讀懂英國 GOV.UK 官方最新公告的話，其實不用等到英國在台辦事處的官方中文公告，大家就可以準備好 email 草稿，在開放收件後把抽籤信寄出去囉！

PART 1
- Youth Mobility Scheme 青年交流計畫
其實這才是所謂「英國打工度假」的正式名稱。
YMS 是一張提供給海外青年、為期兩年的英國工作簽證，持有者可以在英國做全職工作、繳納稅務、享有福利。
- Ballot system
Ballot的原意是不記名投票，但在英國還有另一個常用的意義：隨機抽選 (random selection)。
在此，Ballot system 指的就是英國YMS於台灣、香港的抽籤系統。
想申請這張簽證的朋友，必須符合資格、寄出 email，等待 GOV.UK 的隨機抽選，爭取每年1,000個簽證申請名額。
如若抽中申請資格，就能藉此申請 YMS 簽證。

就我的個人經驗來說，持有 YMS Visa 的台灣人，在和英國當地同事、朋友解釋 YMS 時，其實用「we enter the draw（抽籤）to get the allocation for applying the visa」，他們比較能夠理解。

這篇公告說明哪些對象需要在申請YMS簽證前透過抽籤得到申請資格，以及參與抽籤系統的流程。
The first ballot of the 2026 Youth Mobility Scheme opens from 12:01am on Tuesday 10 February 2025 and closes at 12:01am on Thursday 12 February 2025.
2026年台英青年交流計畫「第一階段申請」將於台北時間2026年2月10日星期二凌晨12點1分，開放至2月12日星期四凌晨12點1分。

Who needs to enter
這個章節說明了符合資格的台灣和香港青年能參與抽籤。日本和南韓青年則不需參與抽籤，可以在任何時間直接申請。
如若是英國海外和所屬領地的居民，也不需參加。
來自印度的申請者則需透過「印度青年專業人士專案」申請簽證。

這個部分和台灣朋友的申請沒有直接相關，我就不多解釋囉。其實英國政府和許多國家都有合作青年交流計畫，有興趣的朋友可以自行研究看看。
PART 3
How to enter
The first ballot will open on 10 February 2026, with a second ballot expected in the summer.
2026年第一階段抽籤將於2月開放，第二階段則將於今年夏天開放。
You enter the ballot by sending an email. Only one ballot entry can be submitted per person. Any duplications will not be counted.
請透過寄送 email 的方式參與抽籤。一人只能寄送一次，重複郵件不納入抽籤資格。
You must make sure you meet all eligibility requirements for the visa before entering the ballot.
寄出email參與抽籤前，請務必參考「申請資格需求 （eligibility requirements）」頁面，確認符合申請資格。
Ballots will be open for 48 hours. All emails we receive within this 48 hour period will be entered into the ballot. You will get an automated reply confirming your entry.
系統將開放48小時。在此期間系統收到的所有符合資格申請都將進入抽籤流程。申請人會收到自動回覆郵件確認。
For the Youth Mobility Scheme visa in 2025, there were 1,000 places available for nationals of Hong Kong and 1,000 places available for nationals of Taiwan. Most places were allocated during the February ballot, while the remaining places were allocated in the summer.
2025年的台英青年交流計畫簽證，香港與台灣各有1,000個名額。大多數名額都已於1月抽籤時分發。剩餘名額則於夏天分發完畢。
Writing your email
Your email must be in English. The subject line of the email must include your:
- name
- date of birth
- passport number
Write these in the format: Lastname Firstname– DD/MM/YYYY – passport number.
Example subject line: Wong Janet – 31/03/2000 – 123456789
請務必使用英文書寫申請email。
Email「標題」請填寫「姓名 – 西元出生年月日（日／月／年） – 護照號碼」
範例：Liu Yu-hsuan – 01/04/2000 – 123456789
👩🏻🏫 小曦補充：
英文姓名以護照為主，但「姓氏在前、名字在後」。
如果有連字號「-」(hyphen)就放進去。
The body of the email must include your:
- name
- date of birth
- passport number
- mobile phone number
Emails received without this information or not in this format will not be considered.
Email「內文」需涵蓋：
- 姓名
- 西元出生年月日（日／月／年）
- 護照號碼
- 手機號碼（建議格式+8869…）
若email內文不含以上訊息、或不符合格式要求，將不被納入抽籤資格。
Taiwan
第一階段
Email TaiwanYMS@homeoffice.gov.uk between 12:01am (one minute past midnight) on Tuesday 10 February 2026 and 12:01am on Thursday 12 February 2026 (Taipei time) to enter the ballot.
欲參與抽籤的台灣申請人，請於台北時間2026年2月10日星期二凌晨12點1分至2月12日星期四凌晨12點1分之前，email 以上內容至 taiwanyms@homeoffice.gov.uk。
👩🏻🏫 小曦補充：
括號裡的 one minute past midnight，指的就是12點後過1分。在英國說明時間時會以四分之一 (a quarter) 為單位，如果不足四分之一，就會以「分+past+時 」來表達。
口語上，我們可以說「one past twelve」，也就是12點1分。「ten past twelve」就是12點10分。
- 12點15分：quarter past twelve
- 12點半：half past twelve
- 12點45分：quarter to one（再15分鐘就1點）
PART 4
If you’re successful in the ballot
若你成功獲得申請簽證資格（中籤）
第一階段
You will receive an email by Friday 27 February 2025 if you are successful in the second ballot.
若成功中籤，申請人會在2月27號星期五前收到通知。
You then have 90 days to submit your application, pay the visa fee and provide your fingerprints and a photograph (biometric information) at a Visa Application Centre (VAC).
接著申請人有90天的時間送出簽證申請、完成線上付款，並到簽證中心完成生物辨識流程，包含拍照與採指紋。
You should get a decision on your visa within 3 weeks of attending your appointment. Check the guidance on decision waiting times to find out how long visa decisions are currently taking.
前往簽證中心、完成所有預約手續的3週內，申請人會收到簽證申請結果通知。
申請人可查看簽證結果指引網頁參考目前簽證申請所需時間。
If you are successful in the ballot and apply for a Youth Mobility Scheme visa, you will not get a visa vignette. Instead, you will need to create your UKVI account and access your eVisa before you travel to the UK.
若申請人順利中籤並完成簽證申請，將不再收到（過往貼於護照上的）短簽貼紙。申請人必須在入境英國前，註冊 UKVI 帳號並存取 eVisa。
You may be able to get your visa faster, depending on what country you’re in. Check with your VAC.
根據所在國家，申請人或能（額外付費）加快簽證申請審查速度。請和簽證中心確認。
If you’re unsuccessful in the ballot
If you are unsuccessful in the ballot, you will receive an email within 2 weeks of the ballot closing.
若你未獲得簽證申請資格（未中籤）
若申請人未中籤，會在抽籤系統關閉後的2週內收到通知。
Check your junk or spam folder if you have not received a response.
若未收到任何回覆，請檢查垃圾或廣告收件匣。
The results of the ballot are final. You cannot appeal if you’re unsuccessful.
抽籤系統的結果為最終決議，不得異議。
You can enter future ballots if you’re unsuccessful, if you continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
若仍符合申請資格需求，則可持續參與後續抽籤。
